The Cinema into the Real project is going ahead on December 16th from 2pm to 5pm.

Cinema into Real, Test One

In Toynbee Arts Cafe hidden video cameras and radio mics were trained on one specific table two days in late November. Selected subjects of that scrutiny (two or three people) have been invited back to recreate from tape, word by word and movement by movement, what they did at that table.

Once rehearsed this will become a 'reperformance', which will occur at a later date in the cafe space. Everything which was said and done by those people will be said and done again. This reperformance will than be performed again as a film shoot, presented as a series of ÔtakesÕ announced by a clapper board, on December 16th. This is not a project about surveillance, nor does it require 'performers'. It is about the relationship between the fictional and the actual, between the filmed and the real.

A film of the real which isn't real because its reenacted and isn't film because it isn't projected.
